Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared on social media.

The actor is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
