Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.

Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the draft in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.

He recorded his initial touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.

"He was a cherished team member and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.

"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his loved ones."

Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th selection of the 2024 NFL Draft after his college career for Western Michigan University.

His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the passing of a player who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.

"I saw him strive his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.

The NFL said it is "deeply saddened" by the news.
