Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments this season as a result of a health issue she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but chose to travel back to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was far from freely in the final set versus Zhu due to back discomfort that has affected her during parts of the season.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 for the first time in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
