Followers Urge Arrest of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a man who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile includes clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Well-being
Several supporters accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted event staff at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore venue, including a number who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two distinct characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, earning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
