Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
