Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
