The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first championship series following the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.
Trailing by two runs, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, Toronto, the nation," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."
The veteran has now connected for 23 October home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their performance in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team secured the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
