Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'Fresh Chapter' for The Big Apple in Inaugural Address
During an inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “transform” the metropolis, promising “a different age” and an audacious start to his term.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The new political star, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.
